KAYAK CLINICS: Through out the summer Empire Kayaks offered instruction to make your paddling more efficient, safer and more fun.The clinic includes kayak, equipment and topnotch instruction. We will offer these clinics again starting in May 2010; ACA Quick Start , Rescue Clinic ,Bracing & Rolling .

KAYAKFISHING CLINICS May Empire Kayaks brought in some kayakfishing gurus to teach some of the tricks of outfitting & fishing from your kayak and the advantages of the Hobie pedal kayaks. Don't worry if you missed it. When you're ready just come down with your tackle and we'll supply the kayaks, the water and the fish. We have some of the most kayakfishing freindly waters around.

THUNDERBIRDS OVER THE BAY May 22-24 There was some extra excitement for everyone who kayaked Memorial Day Weekend as the US Airforce Thunderbirds flew overhead buzzing the bay and Jones Beach. In 2010 its the Blue Angels turn.

LOBSTER DINNER PADDLES May, June, July, Aug, Sept . 6:00pm check-in, Launch 6:30pm. The tradition continued in the summer of 09. When the moon was full, the tide was high and we paddleds to Jordan's Lobster for dinner under the moonlit sky. Since these are some of our most popular trips, we added a few dates when the moon wasn't so full. Don't miss these delicious summer paddles in 2010!

YOGA PADDLES May, June, July, Aug, Sept, Oct . 8:30 Check-in. Launch 9:00. Throughout the summer we combined two magnificent activities. We kayaked over to a park and were led by Barry of Radiant Life through a session of yoga. Then we paddled back to Empire Kayaks for refreshments. The positive energy of the yoga paddles helped bring out the sunshine on every trip in 09. Expect the same in 2010.

GREEN LUNCH TOURS May, June, July, Aug, Sept . 10:00 Check-in. Launch 10:30am. Matt, Empire Kayaks Marine Biologist did another great job in the summer of 09 leading a two hour eco-lunch paddle on the bay.He helped us appreciate nature and the wildlife as we kayaked the marshes and estuaries of the south shore and included a stop for lunch to take it all in. Discover all the natural beauty in our backyard in 2010.

BIKAYAK TOUR May, Aug . Empire Kayaks annual Bikayak Tours are fast becoming an annual tradition for ourdoor enthusiasts. This great total body workout starts with a 25 mile bike tour through the barrier island of Long Beach, then back to Empire where we launch our kayaks for a 3 mile tour of the bay. We beat the rain both times in 09. Join us this coming season.

AFTER WORK RENTALS June , July . The long daylight hours on these days were put to good use by people heading to Empire Kayaks for an after work rental that didn't have to be back in until 7:45pm. We do this a couple of nights every June & July.

BARBEQUE ON THE BAY July 6:00pm Check--in. Launch 6:30pm. Empire Kayaks celebrated the start of July (the grilling season) with a barbeque bash on the bay. We kayaked to our favorite park for a BBQ feast then burnt some of it off with the paddle back to Empire.

PT. LOOKOUT PADDLE July . 9:30am Check-in. Launch 10:00am. We paddled the outgoing tide, navigating our way through beautiful Middle Bay to Scotty's Fishing Station in Pt Lookout, got lunch and caught the incoming tide back to Empire. Join us for this classic summer trip.

CELESTIAL NAVIGATION PADDLE Aug . 6:00pm Check-in. Launch 6:30pm. Empire Kayaks and our celestial expert, Doug S. went on a sunset paddle and learned how to navigate by the stars. A fun and useful skill to have especially if your GPS fails. The clouds made it a little tricky to see the stars but we still found our way back.

THE GREAT PUMPKIN RACE Oct 10 . A two mile kayak race with a twist. Mid-race you beach your kayak, grab a pumpkin and paddle back to Empire. This year's race was our biggest and most fun race ever. Be sure to be a part of this next year. CLICK FOR 2009 RESULTS

COLD WATER CLINIC Saturday October 17th. 10:00 am. Join us for this free clinic to learn how to safely extend your paddling season by wearing the proper clothing. There will be drysuits to try on and to try in the water. Big discounts on all drysuits. Call to reserve 516 889 8300
